The Talent Lab is a services firm offering technical skills development for organizations, teams and professionals.

You have questions:

  • How will my organization remain relevant in the age of AI?
  • How will I personally remain relevant in the age of AI?

We have answers …

Maybe.

Well, take a look, you tell us …

The Problem

Most training is abstract and disconnected from the real “jobs to be done”.

This makes it boring, or even offensive to some, given all the deep domain experience in the room, sitting there as students. Engaging senior members of your team takes humility, the sustainable kind that lasts through lunch, dinner and drinks as well all the coffee breaks in between. True, here a great facilitator can make all the difference, but that’s more like “edu-tainment” than the red hot flaming hair on fire learning experience you really want. Those are different.

Another point: training solutions are one-size-fits-all but roles are unique to your organization and every employee is a unique individual.

This can be uncomfortable for team members that feel special, or need to, because of their connection with you, your brand and the lived experience of working with you on something that matters. The stories they hold on to should be heard, at least – better shared, or even realized on a roadmap at some point. From the narratives of individuals, we can build other, greater stories around their teams, their brand and more.

And another: something like “opportunity cost of training” is generally high and undifferentiated.

It doesn’t make any sense to train all your people the same. Their differences are not just in seniority, either. They each have a totally unique set of stories, narratives, and the mental models baked into those stories from years of rehearsal. The point being, getting to know the individual deeply allows one to tune the learning experience at a very fine level. Some teachers use tough love. Some play games with their students. Others are wise and know all (!) the facts. That’s all fine. But there is only one teacher who knows the student best. And this is the teacher inside the student. The teacher inside the student is the only one you have to reach. Then you teach them to teach. Themselves. And that’s when you really start cooking with gas.

The Offer

  • We help your organization learn to recruit and retain amazing talent – we can even meet, greet and engage new, incoming talent before making an offer.
  • We help your team learn to work better – together, smoother, even faster than before and they’ll feel it and talk about it, awkwardly sometimes.
  • We help you, as an individual, supercharge everything you do – as an analyst, a developer, a technical manager or a new stakeholder in some techno fantasy project for your local club

The Difference

The difference is in the way we handle questions: we ask, and then we listen to your answers.

We customize every learning experience to meet your most ambitious goals – for your organization, your team and yourself.

And (maybe you won’t like this news) we are single-mindedly focused on building slow, infinite interactions, where reputation means everything, instead of the finite, short term, transactional interactions offered by most online learning systems, as amazing and useful as they are.

Now back to the difference:

The Solution

Custom role-specific training designed for your business and key individuals based on our proven High Performance Learning (HPL) methods and tools.

Minimum opportunity cost for your team

Small cohorts (student-groups) of employees are constructed to minimize 3 types of opportunity cost for your business:

  • reduce time to learn first noticeably applied lesson (aha! moments)
  • reduce time to resolve conflict, realign perspectives and incentives (know thyself)
  • capture value on either side of disjoint mental models (diversity of Scott E. Page)

Maximum engagement for your people

Learning experiences are designed and facilitated for maximum group cohesion. Noticeable changes in performance are common during and after training periods. KPIs may include:

  • pre- vs post-training surveys including identity, interests, social awareness and psychometrics
  • encoding of lessons learned as a public presentation, recorded and enshrined on the wall
  • socio-professional ceremonies trialed and installed as per agile, circle and local
